MARTY
bella. if you're going to wear the same clothes two days in a row, i want you to be aware that someone might say to you, "didn't you wear that yesterday bella?" in a snotty, teasing voice.
BELLA
i know.
MARTY
ok. i just want to make sure you know so you're expecting it and have something ready to say, like, "yeah, so what. this is a special shirt" or something like that and not get upset.
BELLA
i know mom.
TROY
bella, if someone says that to you you should say, "uhh, yeah, but, like, didn't you wear that face yesterday."
BELLA
ahhhhhh. that's a good one dad.
TROY
you know it is!
MARTY (disapprovingly)
ahhhhhh. not so much ... dad. bella, i would not recommend saying that one. it could cause problems and problems are what we're trying to avoid here.
before bella descended the stairs, she looked back and we exchanged knowing glances.
