it was bat day at the ballpark (you can see the top of bella's in the frame). on the jammed subway ride home a college age kid asked alex if he wanted to sell his bat. alex looked at the man suspiciously and slid next to me, saying no thank you. bella, hearing the offer, perked up quickly saying, "i'll sell you mine." the guy brightened. bella turned to me and asked if she could. i said it was her bat. the negotiations were a blur. how about ten dollars? how about twenty? fifteen? done! smiles abounded.
