POPULAR FICTION
Verity
by Colleen Hoover
Publisher Note:
Lowen Ashleigh is a struggling writer on the brink of financial ruin when she accepts the job offer of a lifetime. Jeremy Crawford, husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford, has hired Lowen to complete the remaining books in a successful series his injured wife is unable to finish.
Troy Note:
A web-search for books like the Silent Patient led me here. I'm starting to get the sense that, for me, the effort required to get to the twist on these sorts of reads, isn't worth it. This is evidenced by the solitary line I flagged in the margins of this book, and it's hardly worth the effort of noting it. Comparatively, if you leafed through the margins of the other two books I read at the same time (Butcher's Crossing and Manon of the Springs), it would take you hours to read all the highlighted passages flagged in the margins.

Admittedly, this is the sort of book I read at days end and minutes before sleep, so I can confess these fly-weight works do have their place in my world and I reckon is what keeps me coming back. But it will always be remarkable to me that one can put that many words on a page and have so few of them jump out as special.

Passage(s) of Note:
I might have been obsessed with him, but a woman knows if she wants to keep a man forever, she has to act like she could get over him in a day.
