i don't know what the original function of the totem pole was but if i were kicking around lewis and clark style back in the day and ran into one of these in them there hills, i'd be shagging my ass back east like double-time. and had i been the one tapped to go figure out what was in that great unknown, the continental U.S. may very well end at the modern day equivalent of billings, montana.
